Video Update – From the Captain

In this update the Captain touches on the Course Restoration project, Car Park development, Membership applications and Waiting List, and an exciting new Monogram. Enjoy this latest news.

Temporary Parking Update

I’d like to thank you all for your patience and orderly use of the Temporary Car Park. Due to the recent rain, some of the turf is starting to strip and damage, so please be cautious and avoid the damaged areas. Generally, the driving range is holding up to the wear. We are going to remain on the driving range for as long as possible, but will need to revert to 10B later in the month when the civil contractors complete some work on the front entry, and when we host the Port Phillip. Below is the expected schedule.

Until 24 April – Driving Range Closed

25 April to 3 May – Driving Range Open (note: Port Phillip Open Amateur running from 25 to 27 April)

4 May to 20 May – Driving Range Closed

We made the difficult decision to close the driving range during our pennant rounds as 10B could not cater for the volume of cars, and transporting non-members across the property, on a busy course with spectators, carried too much risk.

Pennant Hosting – 14 and 21 April

A reminder that over the next fortnight we will have course closures on Sunday when we host pennant for the Women, Men and Youth. We appreciate the impact this has on members, particularly our Sunday golfers, but we were left with few choices for our host rounds due to the closure for the course restoration. In future years, these hosting responsibilities will be spread across the season. Do take the opportunity to come out and support the teams over the next fortnight – they would really appreciate your support.

New Monogram

Over the past six months the Committee undertook a review of the Club’s branding and marketing assets, including club colours, to ensure it aligned with the Club’s vision of being “A world class golf club, sought after for its strategic course, camaraderie, exceptional amenities and hospitality”. Through the Club’s Communication Group, headed by committee member, Matt Salter, it appointed a design firm, SDWM, to complete a review and recommendations. SDWM’s experiences aligned with what the Committee was looking for, being a young agency that would use a contemporary approach, whilst having experience with traditional clubs, having completed the re-branding for the Sydney Swans Football Club.

You will see in the video from the Captain the new monogram that has been developed. It is deeply embedded into the origins of the Club, and our iconic clubhouse, yet contemporary in design.

The roll out of this new asset will be a measured one and you will start to see its use on apparel and our digital assets in the coming months. It’s very much about evolution whilst we respect the mark that we currently use.
